Found a cat or dog? Here are some things you can do!
Step 1: It is important to not assume that a found animal is a stray. House pets can get lost or lose their way. As such, taking steps to find the animal's possible home can be very beneficial.
2. Report them as found to your local animal control facility/local animal rescues. Many rescues and animal controls are willing to make found animal posts to help spread the word to their followers/community that may be missing their animal.
3. Get the animal scanned for a microchip. We are able to do this at our rescue during business hours, and many other vet/rescues/animal controls may offer this service.
4. Make a post of your own on local Facebook community groups such as Lost/Found Pets of Southern Illinois, Marion Talk/any groups local to your town.
